तनू tanū f (S) The body. 2 fig. Ex. वैद्यानें मला तनूवर ठेविलें आणि माझा मित्र तो तनूवर आहेच. 4 A delicate constitution or state of health.

अंग aṅga . Add:--14 In certain applications, as उघड्या अंगानें (फिरणें -बसणें -असणें), झांकल्या अंगाने, अंग उघडें पडलें or टाकलें, अंग झांकलें &c., अंग bears the implied sense of Pudenda (vel muliebria vel virilia) or Bodily parts required by pudor to be covered. In this special implication अंग is followed by one, but by one only of its synonymes, viz. काया (not by देह, शरीर, तनू &c.) See under काया the phrases काया दाखविणें & काया झांकणें.

काया kāyā f (काय S) The body. 2 Freshness or healthiness of appearance (of the body or countenance). काया दाखविणें-दिसणें-पाहणें To show, be seen, see the body of. Expressions betwixt patient and physician, wife and husband, or of a widow with reference to yielding up her body in another marriage &c. काया as constructed with झांकणें, उघडी टाकणें-पडणें &c. (To cover or hide, or to expose or become exposed) implies any part of the body which decency demands to be clothed. The expressions are constant amongst females. In this use काया answers to the English "Person." अंग or rather आंग (not देह, शरीर, तनू or other synonyme for Body) undergoes the same construction and bears the same implication. काया पालटणें- फिरणें-बदलणें g. of s. To recover freshness and healthiness of look (after sickness). कायावाचामनें- करून In act, speech, and thought: or with all the limbs and members of the body, and all the faculties and affections of the mind and soul--performing virtuous or sinful actions.
